Possibility of rain in Bundelkhand agroclimatic zone of MP

There is possibility of form a induced western disturbance near western Rajsthan during next 36 hours. Due to this western disturbance, there is possibility of light rain associated with thunderstorm/hailstorm  at few places during 13-14 December 2019. Farmers are advised to withhold the irrigation and use of pesticides in the crops for next 4-5 days. Just after rainfall, there may be occurrence of fog during early morning hours.
Acitivity of pod borer in chickpea, aphid in mustard. Possibility of early blight in potato is also possible.

High aphid attack on mustard and low to moderate attack of Pod borer in Chcikpea

This rabi season in Tikamgarh district of Bundelkhand Agro-climatic zone, large number of aphid are found on mustard crop during January end to mid February 2017 and on the other hand low to moderate attack of pod borer is found in chickpea crop during February 2017.
The rainfall during January and till mid February is very low, one two incidence of drizzling has occurred and temperatures are moderate thus pod borer attack is not harmful.

Probably the dry weather and cloudy conditions may be checked the multiplication of pod borer.
Moderate attack of pod borer in chickpea will be expected during march 2017 also.

Minimum temperature will put stress on the larva development of Chickpea pod borer in Bundelkhand Agroclimatic zone during December 2016

This rabi season the timely sown chickpea crop may have very low larva number during December 2016. The onset of winter on time and prevalence of weekly minimum temperature of either below normal or near normal (around 10°C) from the start of November will create a stress for its growth. Till today no larva was found in one meter square row length of the crop sown on 20 and 30 October, 2016. The possibility of normal and below normal minimum temperature (around 9°C) for rest half of November month and dry period will be further aggravated this situation.
Thus, there may be a change of low larva number per meter square(0.5 to 1/m2) in Chickpea during December 2016 due to possibility of fall in minimum temperature further ( around 8°C or below) as compared to December 2015. Farmers are advised to keep watch on the chickpea crop for onset of larva on their chickpea crop

Pod borer attack in Chickpea during January –February 2016

Present status
The first pod borer appears in in timely sown chickpea was first week of December ( 4-7th)  but there number has not been increased so far( upto 22nd Decemebr). But in delayed sowing it has observed after 15th December, 2015. This year this crop was generally sown late due to low moisture and high air/soil temperature. The area of this crop in Bundelkhand region was drastically reduced during this season 2015-16. The minimum temperature has gone down upto 6-7 degree Celsius. This may limit their number. The air humidity has increased but the cloudless sky has been not observed continuous for more than 4 days.
Forecast for January
The minimum temperature could be below normal and in many cases it will be below 8 degree Celsius. There may be changes of fogging condition in Bundelkhand and these conditions may pose more stress in completing their life.
Ultimately at the end of the January there may be chance of very low night temperature below 3-4 degree C , thus the growth of pod borer in the chickpea could be very low in this month.

Forecast for February

The number may be higher in this month as compared to last (January) month but still lower and not posed any economical damage to the Chickpea crop. The lowest temperature around (1-2 degree C) before 15th February again makes a break in pod borer number. After 15th February, there may be slight increase in pod borer activity in chickpea crop. Hence, farmers are advised to keep watch in their chickpea crop after 15th February.
